When I called the doctor's office to check my records, they said I had been signed out and I had missed all my check-ups. I had been running around all day with a fever of 104. It took me nearly a year to realize I had actually been sick. I went to the emergency room because I thought I was having a heart attack. They said I was dehydrated and that it was probably an ear infection. I hadn't been taking my antibiotics and had not been eating all day. I finally got some food into my stomach and felt better, but a day later I still had a fever and this time I really felt like I was having a heart attack. I finally was diagnosed with mastoiditis, a type of otitis, and started taking a few antibiotics. Luckily, it didn't result in hearing loss. It turned out that it was super common for little kids to go through otitis media, and that's what I was suffering from this time. The best treatment was not antibiotics; I just needed to rest and heal from the inflammation. After about a week of this, the mastoiditis went away. I felt better and the doc even said I had no symptoms at all. I never got another earache from it! So, the moral of the story is don't get too stressed out over the seemingly small things; just rest when you are sick and make sure you get enough rest. A bad sore throat can turn into a week long illness if you don't get the proper rest. It's not the illness that's the problem, it's the lack of rest from the illness. The inside of my right ear is red and inflamed. This is called a canal inflamed. It's not an infection but if it does persist, it usually means the middle ear isn't draining properly. Wash your hands well and always use a clean tissue to wipe your ear. Keep it dry if possible and don't block it up with things. I'm not an ENT but I think it needs to drain on its own to heal. A canker sore usually results from dehydration and poor nutrition. It usually comes from drinking a lot of water or soda and not eating enough. It usually doesn't get worse over time. Try to avoid
